A Landlocked Import Has Two Route Decisions

For a Czech buyer, choosing the seaport is only the first half of the route. The inland terminal and final warehouse can change the answer.

Hamburg to Prague is the reference corridor

Hamburg is Europe’s largest rail port, and Prague is a major METRANS hub. It is the first route worth pricing for many Czech importers because the seaport and inland rail leg are already part of a mature intermodal network. The live sailing, rail departure and terminal charges still have to be confirmed for each quotation.

The nearest-looking port is not always the lowest landed route

Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Gdańsk, Koper or Trieste may become relevant depending on carrier service, inland capacity and the buyer’s location. Compare seaport handling, rail or road, terminal storage and final delivery together. A low ocean rate can be erased by the inland leg.

Choose the Czech terminal before the boards are packed

Prague, Česká Třebová, Ústí nad Labem, Plzeň, Zlín and Ostrava sit in established intermodal networks. The selected terminal affects final road kilometres, pallet handling and warehouse planning. Tell us the destination and unloading equipment before production, not after the container reaches Europe.

Four Czech Buying and Installation Conditions

The Czech Republic is compact, but a Prague roof terrace, a Moravian dealer warehouse and a mountain hotel are different briefs.

Prague roofs, balconies and courtyards

Available build-up height, waterproofing and drainage outlets usually control the section. If the membrane cannot be penetrated, send the threshold height and load limits before the system is chosen. A board profile cannot solve an incorrectly designed roof build-up.

Dealer stock in Bohemia and Moravia

A distributor needs a range that can be replenished and explained: a small number of profile-colour combinations, matching clips and trims, retained batch spares and samples that show the cap and core. Too many colours split stock and slow sell-through.

Mountain and upland hospitality

Krkonoše, Šumava and other higher sites add snow, freeze–thaw and long wet periods. Snow load belongs to the support structure. Drainage must remain open during thaw, and cleaning practices should not damage the cap or metal connectors.

Commercial terraces and public-facing projects

Restaurants, spas and municipal spaces need the requested evidence named before a product is promised. Slip method, fire classification, profile scope and installation drawing should be checked as separate items rather than hidden under the word “certified”.

What the Board Is Made Of, and What the Surface Does

The specification starts with the construction, not the colour name.

60% wood powder, 30% HDPE, 10% additives

On the capped range a co-extruded polymer shield wraps the WPC core. The shield is the wearing layer and carries the fade, stain and scratch resistance. Classic boards are uncapped, which lowers cost but changes the cleaning and weathering expectations.

Sections and textures are separate decisions

A complete specification names the range, profile, surface texture and colour. The full profile schedule is on the models page. Do not carry a span or metre weight from one section to another simply because the face width looks similar.

The gaps are working parts of the deck

Side and end gaps allow thermal movement and carry water off the face. They are not cosmetic tolerances. On exposed roof terraces or cold inland projects, blocked gaps turn rain and trapped water into standing water; on a long summer terrace, missing end gaps can turn expansion into buckling.

Colours — Three Ranges

Colour and texture are selected independently from the profile.

Judge the sample where the project will be built

Warm urban courtyards, shaded gardens and mountain hospitality sites do not read the same colour the same way. Put the physical sample outdoors at the project and compare it in sun and shade. Dark exterior surfaces absorb more heat, so a colour approved under showroom lighting can behave differently on a south-facing Czech terrace.

Order the whole visible area in one batch

Pigment is mixed into the extrusion run, so separate batches of the same named colour are not identical. Order one visible area together and keep spare boards from that batch. This matters on hotels and spa projects installed in stages.

Family terraces and garden projects

The sales decision is usually colour, surface, installed price and confidence in the local installer. A distributor should stock complete systems rather than boards alone: starter clips, hidden clips, joists, trims and spare boards from the same batch.

Prague hospitality and roof terraces

Restaurants and hotels need predictable cleaning, documented surface performance and details that respect the roof membrane. Send threshold heights, drainage points and traffic expectations before recommending a section.

Pools, spas and wellness projects

Wet use makes the test method decisive. Our published R10 result is a shod wet ramp result on one named profile; it is not a barefoot pool classification and should not be extended to the full range.

Regional dealers and installation partners

Czech buyers already expect samples, installation advice and local availability. The importer’s value is created after the container arrives: coherent stock, Czech-language sales material, trained installers and a clear claims process.

Put these details on the drawing before the frame is built.

Gaps and double joists

5–7 mm between adjacent board sides, about 5 mm at a wall, and 3–5 mm at butt joints are the catalogue starting points. Butt joints sit on double joists so each board end has its own support. Final spacing and support centres must match the exact profile and project conditions.

Accessories, with sizes

The system includes starter clips, plastic hidden clips, expansion screws, 50 × 50 × 3000 mm corner trim, 40 × 30 × 3000 mm WPC joist and 40 × 25 × 2900 mm aluminium joist. Fixings and exposed metals still need to suit winter de-icing salt, pool chemicals or other project-specific exposure.

What We Do for a Czech Distributor

A first order can be smaller than a container

The minimum order is 70 m². That lets a Czech distributor test one profile, colour, route and documentation pack on a real project before committing to broad warehouse stock.

Samples show the construction, not only the colour

Samples are free; you cover the courier and we credit it against the first order. Ask for a sawn piece so the cap, core and chamber geometry are visible. Compare it with the local products your customer already knows.

A per-unit quotation within 24 hours

Send profile, colour, quantity, destination, business model and required date. We return a unit price and identify the technical documents applying to that exact section.

Private label without pretending to be local stock

OEM packaging, colour programmes and market-specific sections can be discussed. Factory-direct supply is for planned stock or projects; it should not be marketed as the same thing as next-day Czech warehouse availability.

Czech Republic: Port, Terminal and Terms

Freeze–Thaw, Summer Heat and Roof Drainage

Czech weather is not extreme in one direction; repeated seasonal change is the detailing problem.

Freeze–thaw is mainly a trapped-water problem

Cold air alone is not the critical detail. Water held in a closed cavity or around blocked gaps expands and moves through repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Maintain fall, outlets, ventilation and clear perimeter gaps.

Snow load belongs to the supporting structure

The decking board is a wearing surface. Snow, people, furniture and board self-weight transfer into joists and supports. We provide profile data and metre weight; the project engineer checks the whole structure for the site.

South-facing terraces still get hot

Prague, Brno and other inland locations can have strong summer solar gain. Compare light and dark samples outside, especially for barefoot family terraces and pool areas. Colour choice does not replace a heat or comfort assessment.

Roof terraces need a water path below the boards

Board gaps only clear the top surface. The waterproofing, outlets and pedestal or joist build-up below must also drain. Do not hide a flat or blocked substrate under a visually level deck.

Czech commercial buyers often ask for a rating before naming the actual test method.

What our published result covers

R10 under AS 4586-2013 Appendix D, ramp method at 15 degrees, Intertek report 230625005SHF-001, measured on profile ZSGJ138H23A. It is a shod wet result and belongs to that named profile.

A barefoot pool area is a different classification

Do not convert R10 into a barefoot class or use it as a catalogue-wide statement. Send the specification or tender method; we will state whether the existing evidence matches and expose the gap when it does not.

Three Mistakes Czech WPC Importers Can Avoid

The competition is already local, so imported stock has to be planned more carefully.

Comparing factory price with Czech warehouse price

The valid comparison includes ocean freight, terminal handling, inland rail or road, customs work, storage, samples, local sales support and working capital. Factory price is only one line.

Buying too many profile-colour combinations

A wide catalogue can become dead stock. Start with a disciplined matrix, retain batch spares and expand only after installers and dealers show what moves.

Leaving Czech-language material until arrival

Labels, installation guidance, product naming and the claims process should be ready before the container reaches the warehouse. Translation made after sales begin creates inconsistent advice.

Why Import When Czech WPC Is Already Available?

The Czech Republic has credible domestic manufacturers and strong local dealer networks. Importing only makes sense when the factory adds a defined commercial advantage.

Fill a range gap, not a warehouse

Use factory-direct supply for a profile, cap construction, colour programme or project quantity that is not already solved by local stock. If the local product already fits, importing a near-copy creates no durable advantage.

Own the specification and private label

A distributor can control profile naming, colour mix, packaging and the documentation pack. That is more valuable than a generic unbranded board that competes only on price.

Test with 70 m² before widening the range

A smaller first order can validate the installation, market response, route and claims workflow. Scale the combinations that sell rather than ordering a complete catalogue on assumption.

Be honest about lead time

Local Czech stock wins urgent projects. Factory-direct supply wins planned stock, repeat programmes and specifications where the factory relationship matters. The page should never imply that sea freight behaves like local pickup.

Warranty, and How a Claim Works

Stepped, not flat

Capped co-extrusion carries a 15-year limited schedule and classic uncapped 10 years. The covered value reduces in bands over time; ask for the schedule rather than reading only the headline number.

It starts at the destination port

Cover runs from the date the goods arrive and are signed for at the destination port. Keep the arrival record, invoice and batch documentation together.

The batch documents matter

A claim is assessed against the product and schedule supplied with that batch. Photographs, installation layout, maintenance history and retained sample boards make the investigation faster.
